Robert Yielding, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY25445)

Diplomate Academy of Cognitive Therapy

When your child or student engages in behaviors or verbalizes threats of suicide or violence toward others it is important to act quickly to determine the level of risk the child imposes to themself and/or others.  With JLM Psychological Services, I specialize in conducting assessments to help determine the level of risk and/or threat of violence to self or others in adolescents. I conduct these assessments utilizing a thorough structured interview process, examination of risk and protective factors, multiple psychological tests, and a review of pertinent records. As a result of the evaluation, a determination is made regarding an individual's level of risk, as well as feedback and recommendations on how to help mitigate that risk and improve functioning.

In addition to conducting risk assessments with JLM, in my own practice, I specialize in helping adults and adolescents to alleviate suffering and find growth utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as the wisdom and practice of mindfulness and compassion. One of my passions is facilitating CBT for Social Anxiety Groups. The Social Anxiety Group is a cost-effective alternative to individual therapy, and is currently available as a tele-health group, utilizing a virtual format available to anyone in the state of California to participate in. These empirically based groups consist of 12 weekly group sessions and an individual consultation before the group starts. The group focuses on developing CBT skills to manage social anxiety, including psychoeducation, graduated and prolonged exposure, cognitive restructuring, anxiety management, weekly between session homework assignments, and relapse prevention.
